ABSTRACT

Renal artery embolization procedures are used in a variety of clinical settings ranging from treatment of primary neoplasms to ablation procedures for end-stage renovascular hypertension, and to treatment of posttraumatic bleeding or urinomas. The techniques used in the various clinical settings vary as well, including, but not limited to, the types of catheters and embolic agents used. The purpose of this article is to review the clinical indications for renal embolization procedures and to provide guidelines regarding the techniques used in treating many of these disease processes.
