Die Flockarbeiterlunge

Einleitung

Die Publikation eines Zusammenhangs von mehreren Patienten mit interstitiellen Lungenerkrankungen und ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit in einem Betrieb der Flockindustrie hat in den vergangenen vier Jahren in den USA eine öffentliche Diskussion ausgelöst, welche neben der Klärung medizinischer und arbeitstechnischer Aspekte des Krankheitsgeschehens das Spannungsfeld des Wissenschaftlers im Interessenkonflikt der Verantwortung gegenüber den betroffenen Patienten, den Forderungen des Arbeitgebers und wirtschaftlichen Interessen der Industrie widerspiegelt.
