Empfehlungen zur Diagnostik des Bronchialkarzinoms

Das Bronchialkarzinom ist mit weitem Abstand die häufigste Krebserkrankung des Mannes, während es bei der Frau in der Häufigkeit die dritte Stelle nach dem Mammakarzinom und nach dem Kolonkarzinom einnimmt. Bei einer geschätzten Inzidenz von 71/100 000 für Männer und 20/100 000 für Frauen sind 1996 in Deutschland ca. 37 000 Menschen am Bronchialkarzinom verstorben [[1]]. Während die Inzidenz bei Männern seit 1980 unverändert ist, hat sie sich bei Frauen in diesem Zeitraum nahezu verdoppelt. Die Inzidenz- und Mortalitätsmuster reflektieren mit einer Latenz von 20 Jahren den inhalativen Tabakkonsum in der Bevölkerung. Weiterhin sind Asbest, Arsen, Nickel, polyzyklische Kohlenwasserstoffe, Chromate und ionisierende Strahlung ätiologisch relevante Karzinogene.
