Axially chiral anilides were prepared in high optical purity by enantiotopic lithiation at the discriminated benzylic methyl of prochiral tricarbonylchromium-complexed N-methyl, N-o-methylbenzoyl 2,6-dimethylanilide with chiral lithium amide followed by electrophilic substitution.
