Abstract

Three new Δ8-lanostane-type triterpene lactones (1), (2) and (3) were isolated from the stem bark of Abies mariesii M. and unambiguously characterized on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence. Chemical modification of compound 1 showed potent inhibitory effects on Epstein-Barr virus early antigen (EBV-EA) activation induced by the tumor promoter 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA).
