Alkenylzirconium reagents, readily obtained by hydrozirconation of terminal alkynes, can smoothly react with sulfonyl chlorides to afford (E)-disubstituted vinyl sulfones in moderate to good yields. Some γ-functionalized vinyl sulfones can be also conveniently synthesized.
