The binding of two cholesterol moieties on each side of silicon phthalocyanine is performed by reacting dihydroxysilicon phthalocyanine with chlorocholesteryloxydiphenylsilane, bis(triflate)-silicon phthalocyanine with cholesterol or dichlorosilicon phthalocyanine with cholesterol alcoholate.
