Artificial glycolipids composed from phosphatidyl-ethanolamine and one or two sets of sialylα(2-8)sialoside were designed and prepared as mimetics of b-series gangliosides, GD3 and GQlb, which have respectively cholinergic differentiation potency in murine neuroblastoma cells and neutritogenic effect in human neuroblastoma cell line.
