P-Halogenobis(methylene)phosphoranes 2 are prepared in quantitative yield by the reaction of P-tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl-bis(trimethylsilyl)methylenephosphine (1) with elementary iodine (Method A) and catalytic isomerization of P-chlorobis(trimethylsilyl)-methyl-bis(trimethylsilyl)methylenephosphine (3) (Method B).
