3,6-Dihydro-2H-1,3-oxazines, which can be readily prepared by reaction of β-hydroxyaldehydes with N-sulfinyl-p-toluenesulfonamide, are useful intermediates for stereoselective synthesis of 1,3-amino alcohol derivatives.
