Polycyclic tetrahydrofuran or hexahydro-oxepin derivatives and tetrahydrofuryl tetrahydropyrans were conveniently obtained from dihydropyranylcyclobutanols and dihydropyranylketones respectively. These latter starting materials were easily prepared by elimination-addition from 5-bromo-3,4-dihydropyran.
