A new access to Z-1,3-enynes is reported through condensation of Z-vinyl carbamates with magnesium bromide acetylides under Ni(0) catalysis. Yields ranging from 40 to 80% as well as Z/E ratios from 75:25 to more than 95:5 are obtained. A new preparation of Z-vinyl carbamates from E-allyl carbamates is also described.
