One-pot conversion of β-haloketals to corresponding β-lithioketals was achieved by the use of lithium-tellurium exchange reactions via β-(butyltelluro)ketal intermediates. The synthetic utility of generated β-lithioketals as synthons of β-lithioketones has been demonstrated by their successful trapping with various electrophiles.
