The synthesis of C2-symmetrical enantiopure 1,5-diols and 3-oxo-1,5-diols as well as of enantiopure 1,3,5-triols by a new tandem-reaction consisting of a bisalkylation of lithiated 2-trialkylsilyl-1,3-dithiane with epoxides in the presence of a crown ether is described.
