The intermolecular Diels-Alder reaction between methyl 3-oxo-1-cyclotetradecenecarboxylate (5) and (1E,3E)-1-isopropenyl-1,3-cyclotetradecadiene (6) has been investigated. The structures of the adducts under the Et2AICl-promoted conditions and the thermal conditions were determined by 1H NMR and X-ray crystallographic analyses.
