A Bridgehead Carbocation Fragmentation Leading to the Taxane AB Ring System

The AB ring system was constructed from cyclohexane-1,3-diones by a direct route. The key steps included an intramolecular photocyclization and a fragmentation of a bridgehead carbocation.
