A Simple Synthesis of 2-Alkylthio-4-oxo-4H-1-benzothiin-3-carbaldehydes A simple and convenient method for the synthesis of 2-alkylthio-4-oxo-4H-1-benzothiin-3-carbaldehydes by dithiocarboxylation of o-halo-substituted ß-oxoenolates and subsequent alkylation is described.
