Ethylenic trimethylsilyl ketone 1 affords, upon treatment with PhSSiMe3 in the presence of BF3.Et2O, 1-trimethylsilyl-1, 3-bis(phenylthio)propene which has been shown to act as a useful sila β-acyl vinyl anion equivalent, opening a novel access to richly functionalized α,β-unsaturated acylsilanes.
