An efficient method for the synthesis of fragments of the capsular polysaccharide of H. influenzae type b containing an aminoheptyl group by the phosphoramidite chemistry using polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether (PEG) as soluble polymeric support is described. The method is suitable for the preparation of pure oligomeric compounds on a relatively large scale.
