Perfluoroalkyl iodides C_nF_2n+1CF₂I (3 < n < 7) were converted to perfluoroalkanecarboxylic acids C_nF_2n+1CF₂CO₂H in 91% yield, by reaction with zinc-copper couple in the presence of solid carbon dioxide in trimethyl phosphate as the solvent.
