Ring cleavage of 2-ethoxy-4-isobutoxy-5-trifluoroacetyl-6-trifluoromethyl-3, 4-dihydro-2H-pyran (1) with various secondary amines gives 1-amino-4, 4-bis(trifluoroacetyl)-1,3-butadienes 2a-f in excellent yields. Deacylation of compounds 2a-d by hydrochloric acid gives the corresponding monoacyl derivatives 3a-d in fair yields.
