A number of thieno[3,2-c]pyridines 4, thieno[2,3-c]pyridines 7 and furo[3,2-c]pyridines 11 derivatives have been prepared by reaction of the appropriate iminophosphorane, available from ethyl azidoheteroarylacrylates and triphenylphosphine, with aromatic isocyanates.
