This article gives a survey of the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds containing a P-N-N-linkage in which the phosphorus atom is di-, tri-, tetra-, or pentacoordinated. Reactions of these systems in which the coordination of the phosphorus atom changes and/or a new heterocycle is formed are discussed. The available crystal structure data obtained from X-ray diffraction analysis are briefly discussed. 1. Introduction 2. Heterocycles Containing Dicoordinated Phosphorus 3.
