For this issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, we have selected Dr. Antti Perheentupa as guest editor. Dr. Perheentupa is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with special training on reproductive endocrinology and andrology. He is the top andrology expert in Finland and currently the head of department of the Gynecology Outpatient Clinic and the Reproductive Medicine Unit at the Turku University Hospital, Turku, Finland. He has a vast international network based on his postdoctoral fellowship at the MRC Centre for Reproduction in Edinburg, Scotland, between 1996 and 1998.

Dr. Perheentupa has had and currently has several posts. He is the director of communications of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) and serves on the Board of the Nordic Fertility Society (NFS). He is a member of the European Network of Andrologist (ANDRONET). He is the previous chairman of the Finnish Fertility Society and Scientific Committee Chair of the Nordic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (NFOG). His current research interests are male fertility and endometriosis, adenomyosis, and HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) treatment of benign gynecological abnormalities. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and has an h-index of 29.

Under the leadership of Dr. Perheentupa, we have generated a fantastic issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine on current hot topics on andrology. The articles in this issue provide an in-depth review of the existing knowledge on male infertility including new methods to study male fertility, as well as new aspects on male contraception.
