The Guest Editors of this issue of Seminars in Neurology are Drs. Lynne Taylor, Tresa McGranahan and Vyshak A. Venur.

Dr. Taylor received her MD from Washington University in St. Louis, followed by Neurology Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She is clinical professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Washington, the Spence Endowed Chair in Neuro-Oncology, and co-director of the Alvord Brain Tumor Center. She has received innumerable awards in her career, and in 2020 was selected as Mentor of the Year Award from Women in Neuro-Oncology at the Society of Neuro-Oncology. She currently serves as Chair of the Fair Hearing Panel of the American Academy of Neurology. She is considered a national and international authority on Neuro-Oncology, with a particular passion for neuropalliative care. Lifetime achievements include co-editing a book, “Navigating Life with a Brain Tumor.” She is a frequent lecturer on the national and international neuro-oncology scenes, and has mentored a great many students, residents, and fellows during her career. We are most fortunate to have her lead the effort on this issue on neuro-oncology.

Dr. McGranahan received her MD and PhD from the University of California, San Diego, concentrating on the neurosciences. Her residency and fellowship took place at Stanford School of Medicine, and she also pursued an Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the Osher Collaborative Faculty Fellowship. She is currently assistant professor of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. She, too, has received numerous awards during her career, including the High Potentials Leadership Program from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and multiple clerkship Teaching Awards from her time at Stanford. She maintains a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, serving as chair of the Diversity, Equity and Wellness Committee at the University of Washington, in addition to founding the Women in Neurology Committee. Her research focuses on glioma therapy and neurologic complications of cancer. She has presented her ground-breaking work nationally and internationally, and is seen as one of the promising emerging leaders in the field of neuro-oncology.

Dr. Venur was a resident in neurology at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by medical oncology and hematology fellowship at the University of Iowa, and then a specialized neuro-oncology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He is currently assistant professor in the Departments of Medicine, Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. His expertise lies in the realms of glioblastoma, primary CNS lymphoma, and metastatic disease, particularly for melanoma and breast cancer. He serves as co-director for neuro-oncology clinical trials at the University of Washington. He has an impressive portfolio of high-impact publications, book chapters, and review articles, and is clearly a rising star in neuro-oncology.

We greatly appreciate the efforts of Drs. Taylor, McGranahan, and Venur, as well as all of the contributing authors, for their wonderful work in this two-part issue of Seminars in Neurology. They have provided us with a thorough and comprehensive review of the field of neuro-oncology, and lent great insights to where the field is heading and why there should be great hope for our patients with neuro-oncological disease. I wish to personally thank Drs. Taylor, McGranahan, and Venur for their dedication to this issue, as they have brought a degree of commitment that I'm quite sure will be self-evident as you read and learn from their and the authors' expertise. We hope you enjoy this marvelous two-part issue!
