Anthony Yuen Bun Teoh et al. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage reduces adverse events compared with percutaneous cholecystostomy in patients who are unfit for cholecystectomy

In a two-center study, Teoh et al. compared EUS-guided gallbladder drainage and percutaneous cholecystostomy in 118 patients who were unfit for cholecystectomy. The authors found that the two techniques had similar success rates. However, patients undergoing percutaneous drainage suffered from more complications and EUS-guided gallbladder drainage was associated with a statistically nonsignificant higher 30-day mortality rate.
