Wurzelkanalfüllung: Alternativen zur lateralen Kondensation

Einleitung
Im Anschluss an eine vollständige chemomechanische Aufbereitung des Wurzelkanalsystems erfolgt im Regelfall die Wurzelkanalfüllung. Eine hermetische Abdichtung der Wurzelkanäle soll eine Verbreitung von Mikroorganismen und Flüssigkeiten verhindern. Sie ist somit der Vermeidung und/oder der Ausheilung einer bakteriell bedingten apikalen Parodontitis dienlich und gewährleistet einen langfristigen Behandlungserfolg [1].
Die zur Abdichtung verwendeten Materialien müssen gewisse Eigenschaften aufweisen, die schon 1940 von Grossman postuliert wurden [2]. Sie sollten biokompatibel, dimensionsstabil, abdichtend, unlöslich und radioopak sein; das Wachstum von Bakterien sollte nicht gefördert werden und bei Bedarf sollte die Wurzelfüllung auch wieder im Zuge einer Revision entfernbar sein.
