Linkage of human leukocyte antigens, infection with oncogenic viruses, immunodeficiency and development of head and neck cancer: Differences between Chinese and German populations
Introduction:
Nasopharynx carcinoma (NPC) is one of the top ten cancers in China[1]. The incidence rates of head and neck cancer is remarkable different in Caucasian and Asian populations. It may be associated to differences in frequencies of particular human leukocyte antigens (HLA) and immunodeficiency. HLA traits are linked to development of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in Caucasians[2]. The study of differences between Chinese and German populations is beneficial to reveal the development of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The EBV-related NPC or HPV-related HNSCC in Chinese and Germans is different. It requires further study to understand the mechanisms leading to NPC and HNSCC. The present study is designed with the objective of revealing the differences between Chinese and German populations in human leukocyte antigens, infection with oncogenic viruses, immunodeficiency and the association to the development of head and neck cancer.
Methods:
The peripheral blood or tumor samples in China were collected to detect and genotype HLA in NPC and HNSCC through RNA-Seq Data Analysis. The HLA mutation was found and used to be new prediction in NPC and HNSCC. The EBV and HPV were detected in China populations.
