I want to thank James Thornton for serving as guest editor for this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on “Facial Mohs Reconstruction.” We also appreciate the efforts made by each outstanding author for sharing with us their knowledge and expertise.

James Thornton is a Professor of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, where he specializes in facial and nasal reconstruction. Dr. Thornton earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern where he also completed his general surgery residency. He completed his plastic and reconstructive training at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. He has performed thousands of operative cases on a wide variety of soft tissue facial defects and has recently published his first textbook, Facial Reconstruction after Mohs Surgery.

In addition to his surgical practice, Thornton had a distinguished career of 25 years in the US Navy as a naval flight surgeon, recently retiring as a Captain.
