Objective To investigate the involvement of the cavernous sinus invasion of pituitary adenomas clinical characteristics, endoscopic transsphenoidal surgical experience, and results.
Methods A retrospective analysis was performed using endoscopic nasal transsphenoidal resection involving the cavernous sinus disposable invasive pituitary adenoma clinical data, analysis of tumor resection approach and methods, surgical techniques, and patient preoperative hormone levels.
Results Six patients’ pituitary adenomas were totally removed, two cases of pathology of nonfunctioning adenomas and four cases of growth hormone adenoma. Four cases of growth hormone decreased to the normal range within a week after. One case has surgical complications including cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea and one case of anther has a transient diabetes insipidus. Follow-up from 2 to 8 months has no recurrence.
Conclusion Endoscopic nasal transsphenoidal disposable pituitary adenoma invading the cavernous resection, tumor resection revealed good and satisfactory, resection rate, fewer complications, the patient recovered quickly.
