Die fortgeschrittene, aber auch die frühe subklinische chronische Niereninsuffizienz (CNI) verschlechtert unabhängig die renale und kardiovaskuläre Prognose. CNI und obstruktive Schlafapnoe (OSA) sind häufig und kommen deshalb auch oft zufällig gemeinsam vor. Darüber hinaus begünstigen sich die beiden Krankheitsbilder gegenseitig.
