Comparative results of biopsies for patients having a sarcoidosis (salivary gland biopsy for diagnosis of sarcoidosis)

Aim:
An effectiviness of different groups of diagnostic biopsies has been analysed for 1019 patients having a sarcoidosis and treted during 2007 – 2015 in our Clinic. The aim of this analysis and research was the determination of diagnostic values.
Methods:
2067 distinct biosies have been carried out and distinguished into folloving groups:

The group of salivary glands of mouth cavity. There are 196 positive biopsies (20,74%) among 945 biopsies.

Bronchosopic biopsies – 1060. There are 753 positive (71,04%) among them.

Biopsies due to operations. There are 53 positive biopsies among 53(100%) biopsies (VATS-1,1% of all biopsies).
Conclusions:
Results of biopsies for patients having a sarcoidosis in Latvia vary from 20,74% to 100% (vats). Folloving to our experience the biopsy of salivary glands of mouth cavity is effective. This biopsy is technically easy performed by a dentist. There are no complication during this research. This easy and mostly ambulant biopsy has the effectiveness (20,74%).
