Background:

Some chronic cases appear incurable and prolonged in patients, who have a neurotic personality. The Morita therapy, which is a psychotherapy, developed in the early decades of the twentieth century by the Japanese psychiatrist Shoma Morita, is an effective psychotherapy for neurosis. Morita therapy helps the patients to understand their illness, not in the removal of their symptoms but in the inner acceptance, or “arugamama”, which they experience. This process provokes the patients to be genuinely cured with the help of natural healing, as in homeopathy.

Methods and cases:

Two severe cases were given homeopathic remedies using various strategies, in addition to antidepressants. In the first stage of Morita therapy, dealing with their attitude to their symptoms, patients come to accept the symptoms as they are. In the second period, patients start to change some aspects of their daily life by dealing with their attitude towards it. In the third and last stage, they deal with their attitude to life and personality. The first case was a 44 years old woman with depression over two years. She was cured completely after 10 months. The second case was a 25 years old woman with depression and a personality disorder for over seven years. Fifteen months later she was able to continue a normal life.

Conclusion:

The process of curing severe cases by integrating homeopathy and Morita therapy means to attain a full, productive and meaningful life, anchoring our lifes in the reality of nature.
