As part of our project for discovering structurally interesting and bioactive phenolic compounds from Artocarpus plants (Moraceae), we performed a phytochemical investigation on Artocarpus heterophyllus. Four new flavonoids, artoheteroids A-D (1 – 4) were isolated from the roots of this plant. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR, UV, IR, CD, and HR-ESI-MS. All the isolates (1 – 4) were evaluated for their inhibitory activity against Cathepsin K, and compounds 1 – 3 exhibited significantly suppressive effect on Cathepsin K with IC50 values of 6.03, 12.52, 13.65µM, respectively.
