We have reviewed the letter and offer the following response:
-
Draf procedures definitely have a role in managing frontal sinus pathologies and can be used to repair cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks of the frontal sinus. Draf procedures are effective but do require special instruments like an angled burr and a navigation system for a safer approach.
-
The procedure described in our article requires minimal instrumentation and is a direct approach to the frontal sinus. The leak can be very well visualized and managed. This is important in developing countries where all centers may not be equipped with the sophisticated instruments required for endoscopic frontal sinus surgeries.
-
The learning curve for Draf procedures is high, whereas our procedure is very easy to perform and can be done by endoscopic surgeons in routine settings.
