  • Die Labordiagnostik hat einen Anteil von 7 – 9 % an den Gesamtkosten der Intensivmedizin.

  • Blutentnahmen für die Labordiagnostik führen bei Intensivpatienten zu signifikanten Blutverlusten.

  • Labortest sollte man nicht in regelmäßigen Abständen, sondern nur zur Klärung spezifischer klinischer Fragestellungen anordnen.

  • Es ist darauf zu achten, dass Fehler in der prä- und postanalytischen Phase vermieden werden.

  • Die Sinnhaftigkeit und die Kosten der Labordiagnostik auf der Intensivstation sollten in festen Abständen überprüft werden.
