As facial plastic surgeons, we are bound by the desire to perform the highest quality work and provide the best care for our patients. It is with great pleasure that we introduce this issue of Facial Plastic Surgery, focusing on the 11th International Symposium of Facial Plastic Surgery. This meeting is jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (AAFPRS) and the International Society of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies, and marks the 50th anniversary of the AAFPRS. For 5 days in May 2014, the world's top facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, cosmetic dermatologists, and oculoplastic surgeons will gather together in New York City to discuss the latest techniques and technologies in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The cornerstone of our professional societies is education and the sharing of knowledge; this educational program will be a testimonial to the growth and advancement of facial plastic surgery throughout the world.

We are privileged to include some of these “masters” in this issue of Facial Plastic Surgery, discussing their philosophy and approach to the problems that we face each day in the practice of facial plastic surgery. This collection of articles offers the approaches, techniques, and philosophy of these physicians, offers solutions to difficult clinical problems and points to future directions of work in facial plastic surgery. We are indebted to these authors, as well as to all of the speakers who will come from five continents to participate in the meeting.

In addition, this issue continues to include the latest research in facial plastic surgery. This issue continues Facial Plastic Surgery's commitment to providing readers the latest in medical knowledge in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

We hope you enjoy this issue of Facial Plastic Surgery, and hope to see all of you at the 11th International Symposium of Facial Plastic Surgery in New York City, NY, May 27, 2014, to May 31, 2014.
