Classical and State-of-the-Art Skin Rejuvenation

The state of the art of facial rejuvenation has been advanced through innovation in procedures and products and enhanced through responsiveness to patient demands.

In this issue, we cull expert insights from facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and dermatologists to compile a curated set of current best practices in recontouring, revolumizing, retexturizing, and refining the facial skin and facial architecture. We address the multifocal approaches needed to achieve an optimal result, with a particular focus on the areas of minimally invasive procedures and topical antiaging adjuncts, as patient demand has increased extensively.

Patients have been driving our field to offer more reliably effective treatments that produce notable results with an emphasis on minimal downtime. From short scar technique surgeries to minimally invasive devices, from lasers to injectables, from prescription topicals to over-the-counter skin care, this issue will review which procedures and products are becoming the gold standard.

Our understanding of facial rejuvenation has become more nuanced in recent years, with the importance of even skin tone and smooth texture coming to the forefront, in addition to the focus on redraping and revolumizing with particular attention to the midface. In this era of high-definition film and constant connectivity, patients are more aware than ever of the subtle changes that telegraph a more aged appearance. This issue highlights the most cutting edge approaches to surgical, minimally invasive, and nonsurgical management of age-related change in facial architecture and skin quality with the aim of helping you to achieve optimal results that meet patients' increasingly high expectations.
