Insbesondere im niedergelassenen Bereich ist die Diagnostik von Schilddrüsenerkrankungen eine häufige ärztliche Tätigkeit.

Erster Schritt der Schilddrüsendiagnostik ist die Anamneseerhebung und die körperliche Untersuchung.

Schilddrüsenszintigrafie ist im Iodmangelgebiet Deutschland bei Knoten Pflicht zur Differenzierung zwischen autonomen und malignitätsverdächtigen Knoten.

Szintigrafisch kalte Knoten müssen mittels Feinnadelbiopsie weiter analysiert werden.
