  • Invasive Pilzinfektionen nehmen bei intensivmedizinisch therapierten Patienten zu.

  • Die Sterblichkeit ist trotz neuer antimykotischer Therapieoptionen hoch.

  • Besondere Bedeutung hat eine frühzeitige Diagnostik, zumal die Letalität bei verzögertem Therapiebeginn stark ansteigt.

  • Zur Therapie der invasiven Candidose sollte man leitlinienkonform Echinocandine als Mittel der Wahl einsetzen.

  • Da sich der definitive Erregernachweis oft schwierig gestaltet, sollte man bei kritisch kranken, hämodynamisch instabilen Patienten mit Risikofaktoren für eine invasive Pilzinfektion eine kalkulierte Therapie in Erwägung ziehen.
