The management of vascular anomalies is coming of age. Though without complete consensus, we are certainly closer to a more unified approach to the treatment of vascular anomalies than when the initial classification and nomenclature were revamped exactly 30 years ago. There is little disagreement on the various modalities of treatment that are useful, though the timing of their implementation continues to be discussed and refined. What is clear is that the old dogma of “Leave it alone, it will go away” has been supplanted by a more reasoned approach based on an increasing knowledge based in molecular biology, technology, and experience.

The articles presented herein aim to give a current, clinically applicable, and accurate representation of our understanding and management of the most common vascular tumors and malformations. Though the reader may identify honest points of disagreement or variation in approaches with those presented, the overall tenor of the authors I have invited to participate reflects, in my opinion, a unifying trend in this field.

By continuing to disseminate this information and engage in its evolution, we can only better the lives of those afflicted by these lesions.
