Zusammenfassung

Die Gabe von Vitamin D ist anhand der neuesten Richtlinien eine wichtige evidenz-basierte volksgesundheitliche Strategie, um die Knochengesundheit in allen Alterstufen zu fördern und das Fraktur- und Sturzrisiko bei älteren Menschen zu vermindern. Dabei erhöht Vitamin D nicht nur die Knochendichte, sondern stärkt auch die Muskulatur durch Stimulation der Proteinsynthese. Ein Vitamin-D-Mangel sollte in allen Altersstufen vermieden werden.
