Publication History

Summary
Umbilical cord is one of the sarcodes closely connected to birth and early development of human beings. It belongs to a tight group of remedies all related to pregnancy, birth and development. In this paper we discuss the properties of Umbilical cord. The materia medica themes and symptoms come from the trituration done with Umbilical cord in The Hahnemann Institute of the Netherlands in 2007. The main themes of Umbilical cord are connection and letting go, growth and dimensions, and transformation. In the trituration the successive stages of the expression of the symptoms show themselves, starting with the physical level, via the emotional, the mental level to the 4 C level, the spiritual level and the 5 C level, where experiences beyond the ordinary, earthly dimensions are recorded. Next to the presentation of Umbilical cord, we pay attention to the differentiation with Placenta, Amniotic Fluid and Lac humanum, three other remedies related to pregnancy, birth and early childhood. The paper concludes with a case of a young woman, abused and insecure in her being and in her relationships, who was treated successfully with Umbilical cord and came to a healthy equilibrium in her life after about one year of treatment.
