Einleitung

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), auch standardisierte Protokolle oder Algorithmen genannt, sind Maßnahmenpakete, die in bestimmten Situationen von unterschiedlichen Anwendern einheitlich durchgeführt werden. Seit Jahrzehnten in Bereichen wie Flug- und Raumfahrt bestens etabliert, haben SOPs auch in die Intensivmedizin Einzug gehalten und sind auf vielen Stationen verbreitet. Manche dieser Protokolle haben sich in randomisiert kontrollierten Studien schon vor über 10 Jahren als vorteilhaft bezüglich klinischem Verlauf und Outcome erwiesen, wie z. B. SOPs zur lungenprotektiven Beatmung [1] [2], zum Weaning [3] [4] [5] oder zur Analgosedierung [6] [7].
