Embryonale Entwicklung
Störungen der Neuralrohrentwicklung entstehen in der 3.–4. Woche der Embryonalentwicklung, vorwiegend als Folge von Störungen der primären Neurulation (Neuralrohrschluss). Diese Störungen führen durch fehlerhafte Differenzierung und unvollständigen Neuralrohrschluss unter Einbeziehung der neuralen, mesenchymalen und ossären Gewebe der Mittellinie zu offenen oder geschlossenen spinalen Dysraphien.
