Safety and Efficacy of Fasd (Blood Letting through Venesection) in the Cases of Osteoarthrosis – A Randomized Controlled Study
Osteoarthrosis is the commonest life style disorder encountered by society. Despite exhaustive work, still no satisfactory answer has been placed forward by modern medicine; conservative measures are ineffective and produce various adverse drug reactions. Keeping this background in view this study was designed to explore the efficacy of a reported traditional Unani intervention Fasd (Venesection) for Osteoarthrosis. A total of 40 cases of O.A. were randomly divided into control and test groups of 20 each. Conventional outcome measures were used to evaluate its efficacy and safety. The control group was given Unani herbal drugs while test group was provided the same Unani treatment along with Fasd for a period of six weeks. The safety and efficacy measurements were performed at base line and at last follow up. The intervention of Fasd exhibited statistically significant results in comparison to control group in subsidence of pain, and restriction of joint movement without causing any adverse reaction.
