Abstract

This manuscript reviews the development and applications of EEG acquired simultaneously with fMRI in healthy volunteers and patients with epilepsy. The changes in expectations towards the technique are highlighted as they arise over time and with growing experience. Additionally, interpretation caveats and related necessary methodological advances are discussed. The article concludes with a brief outlook onto the authors’ current research which follows from the work presented here.
