Since 1983, Facial Plastic Surgery has been an outstanding resource for learning about established and new techniques in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, provided by an eclectic selection of the world's leaders in the field. Each issue is dedicated to a particular topic and provides thorough and broad coverage of key topics in both aesthetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery. As the official journal of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery has been a valuable tool in promulgating the field in Europe, North America, and worldwide. Over the past several years, we have continued to keep the journal timely and up-to-date by increasing the number of issues per year by 50%, providing color illustrations, and coordinating a Continuing Medical Education program through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (http://wwww.aafprs.org) to offer readers a convenient method of self-assessment at no cost. All articles are published on the Thieme Web site, and subscribers have easy access to all 27 years of the journal's articles at the Thieme-connect Web site: https://www.thieme-connect.com/ejournals/toc/fps.
We are now pleased to announce another step in our continuing effort to provide readers with a state-of-the-art educational experience. Beginning in 2012, Facial Plastic Surgery will accept original scientific manuscripts for review and will publish those which meet the exacting standards of the journal. Submissions that are appropriate for upcoming issues will be accepted only through an online submission system (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/fps) and should indicate the specific issue (see list of upcoming issues at the back of this issue) to which the manuscript is being submitted. Submissions which meet the exacting standards of the journal will be published.
We believe that widening the pool of talented contributors to Facial Plastic Surgery will lead to a stronger foundation, greater innovation, and ultimately better patient care in the field of facial plastic surgery. So sharpen your pencils, open your laptops, and start writing—your colleagues are waiting to hear your ideas!
