AWMF clinical practice guideline Developmental Coordination Disorder: treatment indication and intervention

Objective: Development of a high quality clinical practice guideline on Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) according to AWMF-Standard S3 with the Neuropaediatric Society für German speaking countries as leading society

Methods: under supervision by the AWMF, a German-Swiss guideline on DCD has been developed between 2007 and 2010 including all relevant professional groups, patient representative and an international advisory board. The key recommendations were also consented on a European level (Brusselles 2010). A systematic literature search (1995–2010) has been carried out for 3 key questions. The literature was evaluated according to GRADE resp. OXFORD-criteria and then key recommendations, statements and research notes were generated within a nominative group process.

Results: For the area treatment indication and intervention of DCD, 15 key recommendations, 7 statements and several research notes are presented.

The presentation of the key recommendations is part of the implementation process.
