Aims: In the present study we present analysis of routine EEG-curves recorded in a level II hospital by an experienced EEG reviewer of a distant epilepsy centre.

Methods: Routine EEG was recorded using a 21 channel (10–20) system by Nihon Kohden (EEG 1200). Data transfer from the hospital to the epilepsy centre was performed using a CITRIX Client via Internet. Complete data were stored locally on the server of the hospital. Online verification of the EEG-reviewer of the epilepsy centre was performed using a pin number generated by a token. The result of the analysis was integrated in the EEG database of the hospital.

Results: 110 recordings of 83 children were performed during the period between June 2009 and December 2010. 21 children were referred to a level III centre harboring a specialist child neurologists and epileptologist for further evaluation. In the majority of cases, epileptic discharges were the striking pathological phenomena.

Conclusion: EEG analysis of recordings done in a level II hospital by an epileptologist in a distant epilepsy centre can be performed on a convenient basis. Most patients showed no need for a further evaluation in an epilepsy centre.
